As you learned at the beginning of this lesson, this accident crossed a variety of disciplines. It was a watershed event for cabin safety and was also important for structures and fuel system arrangement.

These are the 14 CFR 25 rules that have the intent to reduce the occurrence of fuel fires in and around an airplane following the initial crash impact:

25.721 - Landing gear design
25.963(d) - Fuel tank within the fuselage contour
25.993(f) - Flexible fuel lines
